Day 31
Well today after a good nights sleep (Finally) we headed towards the West coast and the famous Route 1 or CA-1 as its known this is the road that runs between Los Angeles and Leggett some 612 miles long. We joined it at Bodega Bay. Our leg was only 150 miles but with speed limits as low as 20 MPH in places and loads of the local Fuzz on the prowl it took us bloody ages. It didn’t help that it was pissing down with rain either. So we pushed on and after about 6 hours we stopped at a lovely town called Mendocino, famous for the Angela Landsbury series “Murder she rote” there was only one hotel there and we asked about the rates and were put off by the high prices and lack of Internet so we has lunch their and decided to push on towards Leggett where Route 1 runs out and joins Route 101 a faster access road that runs to Seattle our main destination. The only problem was that the road is so slow going and full of sheer drops and tight turns so added with pitch black skies and no street lights things got a bit
hairy. Lorna had about 6 kittens at least and was so glad to see the intersection of Route 1 and Rote 101. We still had to drive another 45 minutes to find a hotel. So all in all 7.5 hours had gotten us only 275 miles. We are hoping the weather will improve tomorrow so we can get some good photos. Fingers crossed.
